Why Gap

Poverty is not just a lack of money, it is not having the capability to realize one's full potential as a human being.

The Challenge & The Opportunity

Over 43 million families in India live in multidimensional poverty. At the same time, India is home to more than 265,000 active NGOs.
We believe in the power of this math: If each NGO could transform the lives of just 18 families each year, we could collectively eradicate poverty in under a decade.

OUR MISSION

Aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #1 “No Poverty,” GAP’s mission is to accelerate the impact of these NGOs and social enterprises (our "changemakers").
We empower them through:

Capacity
Building
Corporate
Talent Engagement
Ecosytem-wide
Collaboration

SDG #1
NO POVERTY

OUR JOURNEY

GAP’s story began in 2014, when a few passionate people came together to design a collaborative space for action. This led to the launch of GAP in March 2015 at the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram, where 300+ individuals pledged to work together to make poverty history.

Subsequent convenings in 2016 and 2019 brought together over 500 leaders. At these events, changemakers went through a rigorous process of refining their purpose, detailing their growth plans, and connecting with coaches and collaborators.

How Changemakers benefit

Through GAP, our changemakers are able to:

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty.
